Laws of Attraction is a film that through fundamentally great dialogue and very coy, attractive music, achieves a compelling romantic comedy. The acting cannot be neglected. There truly is a star performance by all. What I particularly liked about this film was that the standard boy meets girl sexual tensions and barriers still exist, but refreshingly, the male lead played by Pierce Brosnan, is allowed to face insurmountable odds, be ridiculed, yes, yet still achieve successes and he is allowed to not be “out done†when it seems to matter most. Both actors clearly respect one another and this is depicted in this story. The film comments on society, namely, the decisions we must make for ourselves and how to assist our clients (they both play divorce attorney’s). The film examines ethics and morality and through the strength of the characters to overcome huge disappointments, they are both in the end, perhaps surprisingly, accepting of their devotion to…
